He was a macho pacifist a hypochondriac an animal lover gifted with a rapport with dogs and birds. Sulking and bad-tempered (perhaps due to his stomach ulcers), he also displayed brightness of spirit and intelligence. The messianic artist we meet here was misogynistic but also generous and loving. Shattered by the death in 1913 of the father he loved and hated, the rebellious son concealed his grief but later would claim that the countless pigeons and doves in his pictures were a form of "repayment" to his pigeon-fancying parent. This abundantly illustrated second installment of a masterly, indispensable biography puts Picasso in a new light. Richardson believes Picasso was "as much sinned against as sinning," at least during the period covered here. John Richardson - A Life of Picasso, Volume II: 1907-1917

Hancock is expressing his opinion when others have expressed theirs but without the credibility attached to it. And who in the end will know who is actually correct after all since there is no proof from the 'established scientific community' (who are all fearful of not getting their tenures), so why is Mr Bulger so critical that Mr. Fingerprints of the Gods, whether Hancocks theories are correct or not, presents more credible evidence than traditional views. I am not a scientist by any means but have always found conventional scientific theories more than lacking in any credible explanations. Michael Bulger is on the government payroll what with his skepticism of the Hancock book. Major themes in the book include assumptions and jealousy. My mom never seemed to agree with my dad about how to pay the bills and run his construction business. I remember the constant yelling every night after we were all sent to bed, about the finances and business decisions. I remember more about our life in Ohio than I wish I did. From there it spread, and there are now “Move” cult groups all over the US, Australia, Central America, South America, Europe, and Asia.)īecause I was so young when we lived in Ohio, most would assume that I do not remember much about life there, but that assumption is wrong. (This cult is called “The Move of God”, and was founded by a man named Sam Fife in the 1960s in Miami. This cult had just enough of the truth to fool many people…put on just enough of a good show to appear to be a legitimate “church”. We attended “church” in a cult there–a cult my parents had chosen to be a part of when they were in their late 20s and already had 4 children. Our family lived in Canton until I was four years old. My mother and father with me–the day I was born I pretty much went from finishing the last page of KING OF SCARS to immediately opening up to the first page of RULE OF WOLVES because now I need to see where this ultimately goes. Nina and her plot to change the game in Fyerda. Like, I was enjoying reading and getting more into the story all the way through, but once I got to that last 25%, I was definitely hooked. I’m kind of a fool for witty banter, so the back-and-forth between her and Nikolai or her and other members of their team definitely drew me in. It took me a while to get into Zoya’s character. So that’s where I was when I picked up the book. I was looking forward to reading more of Nina’s story, but also not sure I was ready for the wall of grief she’d be experiencing. I also really didn’t feel like I had a deep connection to or understanding of Zoya, so I wasn’t sure how to feel about reading her perspective. When I read SHADOW AND BONE, I was pretty solidly team Alina and Nikolai, so I kind of never got over the fact that they didn’t end up together. I went into this book with some big reservations. The novel was originally circulated in Russia via samizdat ('self-published') literature in 1966, after Solzhenitsyn was denied official publication of his works in 1963, due to the tightening of ideological structures on cultural activity in the Soviet Union. After writing a letter criticising Joseph Stalin in 1945, Solzhenitsyn was arrested and exiled to Central Russia.
